Lazio will compete in the 2015/16 Champions League as UEFA have awarded the Aquile a licence after successfully completing their investigation of the club.

The Biancocelesti were being investigated by the European football governing body this week as they wanted clarification on veteran midfielder Stefano Mauri’s previous ban for failing to report on match-fixing.

However UEFA released their list of clubs participating in the Champions League on Wednesday, and the Italian club was included meaning they will compete in Europe’s top competition next season.

“It was a predictable decision as the doubts behind evicting Lazio were extremely forced; it was obviously going to end this way.” lawyer Gian Michele Gentile told lalaziosiamonoi.it.

Napoli and Sampdoria were also being investigated by UEFA, with both clubs being admitted into next season’s Europa League.
