Roma director of sport Walter Sabatini has confirmed that coach Rudi Garcia will remain with the club to lead them into the new season.

There had been murmurs of disquiet amongst the higher echelons of the Roma management following a disastrous run of form during the second half of the season which saw the Gaillorrosi slip out of the title race with Juventus and even endangered their position in the Champions League spots.

“Garcia’s future? I have already expressed my view yesterday,” Sabatini explained to VoceGiallorossa.it.

“Even talking about it here would seem to me to demean this really important project which we have, especially for those people who do not speak to the microphones and who work hard behind the scenes.

“I know that curiosity is disruptive and should be avoided so I will confirm that he and I will be in the press room together in a few days time when we meet in London. Rudi has always been at these scheduled meetings. I am 100% sure he will remain.”

Garcia has led Roma to two consecutive second place finishes since taking over at the club in 2013.
