Matija Nastasic Manchester CityMilan’s two biggest giants could be set for another transfer showdown as former Fiorentina stars Stevan Jovetic and Matija Nastasic have caught the attention of both clubs.

AC Milan were previously involved in a transfer derby with Inter for French talent Geoffrey Kondogbia, with the Nerazzurri eventually securing the player’s signature.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has now focused upon Serbian defender Nastasic who plays for German club Schalke 04, as he looks to shore up Milan’s defence ahead of the new season.

However the 22-year-old has also been a long time target of the Nerazzurri, as coach Roberto Mancini reportedly holds the player in high regard after their time together at Manchester City, and will therefore not be willing to let the talent slip away to their rivals so easily.

While the report suggests that the player is currently closer to Milan, it is unlikely Inter will watch him go without a fight.

Another name on the market is that of Manchester City forward Jovetic, who joined the Citizens in the summer of 2013 from Fiorentina, though has found appearances hard to come by after a string of injuries placed him further down the pecking order.

Jovetic’s agent is reportedly on route to meet Inter, who once again are said to be long-time admirers, though Milan are now ready to jump into the deal as they look for a new forward to pair upfront with Carlos Bacca, who is set for a medical within the coming days.

With the Montenegrin possibly due for a return to the peninsula, an interesting battle could ensue to see who wins his services, though 2014-15 Serie A champions Juventus could throw a spanner in the works with a bid of their own.
