AC Milan have decided not to renew the contract of club veteran Daniele Bonera and have thus released the player after nine years of service.

Bonera, who joined Milan in 2006, has been told to move on after his contract ends on June 30 as he is not deemed desirable in the coach Sinsia Mihajlovic’s new look squad.

The 34-year-old follows in the steps of fellow veterans Sulley Muntari and Giampaolo Pazzini who have additionally ended their adventures at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, as Milan seek to build a fresh team after a disappointing 2014/15 season.

Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Bonera may join Pazzini at Hellas Verona, with the later tipped to sign a four-year contract with the Gialloblu, though he could be ready to join Italy’s lower ranks.

Bonera won the Champions League with the Rossoneri in his first season at the club before lifting the Scudetto in 2011.
