Samuel UmtitiSerie A giants AC Milan have turned to Lyon centre-back Samuel Umtiti to reinforce their ageing back-line.

The Rossoneri are reportedly keen on Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli, but the Giallorossi are asking €30m for the Italy U21 star which is deemed too much by the Milan hierarchy.

According to Sportmediaset, club coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has turned to Umtiti as a cheaper alternative to Romagnoli. Milan were linked with the French Under-21 international last year, but made no official bid for the defender.

Mihajlovic is keen on adding a left-footed central defender to his squad and the 21 year-old fits that description.

The French side are asking for a fee as high as €25 million for their prized commodity but could potentially entertain a lower offer.

Umtiti played 35 league games for Lyon last season, scoring once and assisting two goals.
