Early negotiations between Arsenal and Palermo have not been successful over the transfer of Joel Campbell.

The Costa Rican international has drawn interest from the Sicilian side but Palermo have so far been unable to match Arsenal’s valuation for the player.

According to Tuttmercatoweb.com, Arsenal are willing to sell Campbell for €9 million.

Palermo’s first offer, however, was only €5 million, meaning there is plenty of work to be done if a deal is to be completed for the forward.

Campbell was on loan at Spanish side Villarreal last season where he made 16 appearances in La Liga.

The 23-year-old has represented Costa Rica 42 times, scoring 10 goals.
