Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny looks set to join Roma on-loan in the next few days as both clubs look to have agreed to a deal following days of negotiation.

The Polish shot-stopper has seen himself fall further down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium following the recent signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea, while the Gunners also splashed out €5 million on Colombian David Ospina last summer after some fine displays at the 2014 World Cup.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 25-year-old will sign for the Giallorossi on-loan for the 2015-2016 season, with the capital club not obliged to purchase the former Legia Warsaw keeper outright when the loan spell ends, as had been previously reported.

The Poland international signed for the north London club in 2006 joining the club’s youth side, before making his senior debut in a League Cup match against West Bromwich Albion in September 2009, keeping a clean sheet.

He made a total of 132 Premier League appearances during his spell at the Emirates and will now be hoping to re-ignite his career with the Lupi when the potential deal is complete.
