Higuain+Callejon NapoliNapoli have rejected Atletico Madrid’s first offer for winger Jose Callejon, but are still open to sale if the La Liga giants increase their bid.

The 28-year-old Spanish international has enjoyed two prolific seasons at the Partonopei, but his future has been in doubt ever since former boss Rafa Benitez left to join Real Madrid.

Atletico have been long-term admirers of the player, and feel now is a good time to make a concrete move as new boss Maurizio Sarri puts his own stamp on the team.

Sport Italia report that Napoli weren’t satisfied by Atletico’s opening €12 million offer, but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis will sanction a deal if they up their bid to €16.5 million.

Meanwhile the club are still pressing for Sampdoria midfielder Roberto Soriano, and are willing to spend a maximum of €7 million to bring him to the club.

The obstacles are that Sampdoria are unwilling to let him go unless a club offers his €10 million release clause, and the player himself would prefer a move to AC Milan.
