La Liga champions Barcelona have rejected a bid from Roma for veteran defender Adriano.

The 30-year-old wing-back, who joined the Catalan giants in the summer of 2010 and has since made 106 appearances in the top flight, has been playing second fiddle to Jordi Alba in recent years.

As a result of the lack of playing time, various Catalan media outlets have reported that the versatile defender was close to a switch to the Stadio Olimpico for a fee close to €8 million, with rumours that Adriano had agreed on personal terms with the club.

However, such rumours have since been quashed, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Barcelona have rejected a chance to cash in on the wing-back.

As a result, Roma coach Rudi Garcia is said to be eyeing Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Digne, Olympiakos’ Arthur Masuaku and Borussia Dortmund star Marcel Schmelzer as possible candidates at left-back.
