Roma’s move for Barcelona defender Adriano is being held up by the Blaugrana’s reluctance to sell during their transfer ban.

The Spanish giants are currently under a FIFA ban for breaching rules about signing international players under 18 years of age and yet have already invested in Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan during the summer, despite being unable to play the duo until January 2016.

That being the case, Barcelona are unable to replace current second-choice left-back Adriano for the first half of the season; Mundo Deportivo report that the Champions League holders will hold onto the Brazilian, with Barcelona president Josep Maria-Bartomeu last night reassuring the defender of his importance at the Nou Camp.

Roma are unlikely to be able to wait until the new year to sign a new left-back as currently the Lupi can only rely on Ashley Cole as a natural starter in that position, having sold Jose Holebas to Watford earlier this month.
