Mario Gomez FiorentinaBesiktas have confirmed that they are in talks with Fiorentina’s Mario Gomez as the German’s proposed move to Turkey edges closer.

The 30-year-old has suffered a frustrating two-year spell with the Viola after arriving from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in 2013, but is now set to leave Florence to sign a lucrative contract with the Turkish Super Lig side.

The Istanbul club confirmed via their official website that talks are already underway with Gomez, who is expected to earn around €10 million for a two-year deal in the Turkish capital.

Besiktas will initially sign Gomez on loan, but will be obligated to complete a permanent deal for the German international for around €8m.

Fiorentina also expect the transfer for Gomez to be completed imminently and are already looking at ways to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.

“Gomez? Let’s see, it should all materialise within two hours,” said the Serie A side’s general manager Andrea Rogg.

“Besiktas are dealing with the last remaining formalities, it should be completed soon.”

Gomez scored only seven goals in 29 league appearances for the Viola during an injury ravaged two-year spell.
