The transfer saga surrounding Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba looks set to continue after Joan Laporta lost the Barcelona presidential election.

The French midfielder has been the subject of intense interest from many of Europe’s elite clubs for some time now. A move to Barcelona looked most likely to be on the cards due to Blaugrana presidential candidate Joan Laporta promising that he would bring Pogba to the Camp Nou, and claiming that he had a special relationship with the player’s agent Mino Raiola.

Laporta has since lost the election to incumbent Josep Maria Bartomeu and according to Tuttomercatoweb, this leaves the door open for a move for the 22-year-old this summer, as any move to Barcelona would have to wait until next summer due the club’s transfer ban.

Among clubs currently thought to be monitoring the situation are Chelsea and Manchester City. The BianconeriĀ have repeatedly stated that they do not wish to sell the French international, however if an offer of ā‚¬80 million or more came in, the Old Lady would have to consider it.
