elseid hysaj empoliEmpoli coach Marco Giampaolo has confirmed that full-back Elseid Hysaj is set to join Napoli after the two clubs agreed a transfer fee.

The Azzurri accepted an offer of €5 million plus €1m in performance-related bonuses from the Partenopei on July 28.

“Hysaj will almost certainly join Napoli,” Giampaolo told reporters following Empoli’s 4-1 pre-season friendly win at Viareggio.

“He is a great professional with a bright future ahead of him.”

The Albania international has already agreed personal terms worth €600,000 per season, although the transfer is being delayed due to the 21-year-old being required to terminate his sponsorship contract with Puma.

This is because Napoli demands that all players concede their image rights to the club as part of their contract negotiations.

The Partenopei are also set to complete the signing of Vlad Chiriches after the Tottenham Hotspur defender successfully underwent a medical.

Hysaj made 36 appearances for Empoli during the 2014-15 season as the newly promoted side stayed up with an eight point cushion.
