Roma coach Rudi Garcia had a spring in his step as his side began their pre-season preparations – saying there is great excitement within the camp to get going.

His side have been busy since the season ended, bringing in Andrea Bertolacci and Iago Falque from Genoa (before selling the former to AC Milan), securing the signing of Radja Nainggolan on a permanent deal and selling Jose Holebas to Watford.

“There is always a great excitement when you return for pre-season,” the Frenchman smiled when speaking to Roma TV. “I could not wait to start again because the holidays are beautiful but to work is so much better.

“It is always a new experience each season and this will be a new group but as usual we will give our best to have a great season and to continue on our path that we are on.”

After their retreat at Pinzolo, the Giallorossi will head off to Australia to continue getting ready for Garcia’s third season at the club – with Leandro Castan and Kevin Strootman both nearing returns to fitness.
