Massimo Ferrero SampdoriaSampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has expressed his disappointment following the Blucerchiati’s 4-0 loss against Vojvodina in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier.

The Blucerchiati were humiliated by the Serbian visitors and Ferrero has admitted that the club must adapt to the strains of European football if they are to improve.

“We never got ourselves into the match and we deservedly lost,” said Ferrero to Primo Canale.

“They deserved the victory and I can only apologise. This was not my Sampdoria, they were terrible.”

He continued: “This was not the first time that we have got into Europe and lost; we must adapt to the European stage otherwise we will always be in difficulty.”

“As for the squad, I will tell them to stop messing up and to play well.”

The Doria president also reacted angrily when questioned about the potential arrival of former striker Antonio Cassano.

“Enough with the questions on Cassano! Think about someone else because you always ask the same questions,” said Ferrero.

“If there is a need to get him then I will buy him.”
