Fiorentina are close to securing the signing of Cagliari defender Davide Astori.
The Viola have recently emerged as frontrunners for the Italian’s signature despite the prolonged interest of both Napoli and Juventus, and now it appears as though an announcement is imminent.
Sky Sport Italia claim that the deal will be wrapped up by Friday night.
The Astori saga is one of the longest-running dramas of this summer’s transfer window, with a potential move to Napoli apparently collapsing due to a disagreement over image rights.
The former Roma loanee will be a direct replacement for Stefan Savic, who moved to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid earlier this month.
If Fiorentina can clinch a deal for the centre-back, they will be departing with a believed fee of around €5.5 million.
Astori has 10 Italy caps to his name, since making his debut in 2011.
