Walace SilvaFiorentina have moved ahead of Napoli in the race to sign Gremio starlet Walace.

The Partenopei have already expressed interest in the Brazilian so far this summer, but now it appears as though it could be the Viola who claim the player as their own, with a formal bid already made.

Sky Sport Italia confirm that Paulo Sousa’s side have presented an offer of €5.5 million to Gremio, and are trying to attract the defensive midfielder to a life in Florence.

The 20-year-old burst onto the Brazilian top flight scene in 2014, and has flourished since as a strong tackling defensive minded midfield player.

Walace has made 17 senior team appearances so far this year, picking up seven bookings.

He last appeared on Thursday evening, picking up a yellow card as Gremio beat Cruzeiro 1-0.
