mario gomez fiorentinaFiorentina striker Mario Gomez is inching closer to the exit door as only a severance payment stands in the way of his move to Besiktas.

La Viola are believed to have accepted an offer from the Black Eagles who have also agreed personal terms with the German forward.

As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, the 30-year-old is negotiating a severance package with his current employers due to the early termination of his contract which runs until 2017.

Should this final hurdle be cleared, Gomez is expected to leave Fiorentina’s pre-season tour of North America to link up with his new club in Istanbul.

Besiktas are hoping to conclude the saga by Friday at the latest, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar being the preferred alternative if the Gomez deal falls through.

The former German international has endured a difficult two-year spell in Florence that has only produced seven goals in twenty-nine appearances.
