Fiorentina have said they will be taking legal action against Chelsea forward Mohamed Salah after he rejected their offer of an improved deal.

The 23-year-old has decided that he will not continue to play for Fiorentina as he has other offers from Serie A sides. something which has irked Viola owners Diego and Andrea Della Valle, to the point where they are considering legal action against the player.

The Viola are believed to have offered the player a contract of €3 million a season, plus bonuses, as they looked to keep him at the Stadio Franchi.

“Following recent developments concerning Mohamed Salah, ACF Fiorentina would like to clarify the following points out of respect for Viola fans,” a statement on Fiorentina’s official website read.

“Through his representative, the player has rejected our improved contract offer and expressed his desire to join another club. He has also informed us that he does not intend to respond to our request for him to report back for pre-season training.

“As a result of the above, we have placed the matter in the hands of our lawyers so that they may assess all possible courses of action in order to protect the club’s rights.”

It is believed that when Fiorentina took the player on loan in January for a six-month period, they had the option to extend the loan deal for an other season, before purchasing the player out right at the end of the campaign. However, the player had to agree to this extension, which he did not.

Salah was impressive for Fiorentina during the second half of last season, bagging six goals and three assists in 16 matches.
