Fluminense have rebuffed Juventus’ latest approach for Gerson, paving the way for Barcelona to sign the starlet.
The Bianconeri offered in the region of €20m for the 18-year-old, a bid that was swiftly rejected by the Rio de Janeiro-based club.
According to O Dia and Regiao do Noroeste, the Tricolor are hoping to hold out for a more suitable bid from Barca.
The Spanish giants’ transfer ban would ensure Gerson remains at the Maracana until 2016, thus seeing out the remainder of the Brazilian championship.
It is thought that Fluminense would prefer to do business with Barcelona, who hold a first-option agreement on the player.
Gerson has been tipped for stardom after making his first-team league debut for Fluminense in May, as well as catching the eye with his performances for Brazil at the Under-20 South American Championship in early 2015.
