Former Juventus forward Vincenzo Iaquinta believes Juventus are title favourites for the upcoming season although their recent sales will make the Scudetto race tighter.

The 2014/15 Serie A champions have recently witnessed an exodus of stars, after key players Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez departed for a move abroad, whilst midfield maestro Arturo Vidal is on the brink of joining German champions Bayern Munich.

“Without [Carlos] Tevez they [Juventus] are definitely a lot weaker,” Iaquinta said in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com.

“He is a player with great character and can score goals at the highest level, therefore his departure will be a great loss.

“Juve have great new players in Paulo Dybala and Simone Zaza, but I think Tevez’s departure will make the league more balanced this year.”

Iaquinta then continued, discussing potential replacements for the outgoing stars, such as Schalke 04 midfielder Julian Draxler and he also recommended Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko to Italian sides.

“A player like Julian Draxler would be very useful to Juventus, but we’ll have to wait and see if he arrives,” Iaquinta continued.

“I would actually quite like to see [Edin] Dzeko in Italy.

“He has done very well in England with Manchester City so it would be nice to see him here in Serie A.”
