sergio romero sampdoriaArgentina international goalkeeper Sergio Romero has officially signed for English Premier League giants Manchester United.

The 28-year-old, who has 62 caps for the Albicelestes, had been with Sampdoria since 2011, but was allowed to become a free agent in the summer after failing to agree a new deal with the Italian club.

However, according to the Old Trafford outfit’s official website, Romero has signed a three-year contract with United and could find himself as coach Louis Van Gaal’s first choice with current custodian David De Gea’s future remaining uncertain.

Despite becoming his country’s number one, Romero failed to hold down a regular starting spot with the Blucerchiati, often finding himself relegated to second choice behind Emiliano Viviano.
