Genoa have announced the contract renewal of centre back Sebastian De Maio.

Key players Iago Falque and Andrea Bertolacci have already left Genoa for pastures new this summer, while Diego Perotti may soon follow with moves to Napoli and Watford mooted, but the club can rely on De Maio staying with the latest news.

News of De Maio’s contract renewal was confirmed by the clubs’s website, an announcement which will be sure to please the Grifone fans as De Maio was an integral part of Genoa’s impressive league performance last season with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side finishing sixth.

It is confirmed that the 28-year-old’s new contract will expire in 2019.

De Maio made 33 appearances last season, with 31 coming from the starting lineup.

However, Genoa are also reportedly also close to signing Celta Vigo centre back Andreu Fontas.
