Genoa are closing in on the signing of Celta Vigo defender Andreu Fontas.
The 25-year-old Spanish youth international is a product of Barcelona’s famed academy La Masia, and has been a regular starter ever since moving to Celta in 2013.
Tuttosport reveal that Genoa are scouring the Spanish market once again, and have been in negotiations with Celta for some time over the defender, who can also play at the base of midfield.
Talks are at an advanced stage between the two clubs, and Genoa are confident of wrapping up the deal by the end of the week if everything goes smoothly.
Fontas made 34 appearances for Celta last season, as they secured safety once more in La Liga.
