Genoa are considering a move for AC Milan’s Simone Verdi who is thought to be up for sale.
The Rossoneri youth product has spent the last two seasons on loan at Empoli, but returned to the Stadio Meazza to find huge competition in the forward positions, with new signings Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano almost certain to start for the Diavolo.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Grifone coach Gian Piero Gasperini is intent on acquiring the 23-year-old for his attacking options.
Genoa may have to fend off some competition for Verdi as Carpi are also believed to be interested in the attacking midfielder.
Milan are thought to want around €1.5 million for the Italian.
Verdi has never made a Serie A appearance for the Rossoneri, but did play 26 times for Empoli last season.
