Artur Ionita - VeronaHellas Verona have rejected Napoli’s €1.5 million bid for Moldavian midfielder Artur Ionita.

The 24-year-old international has been on the Partenopei radar for some time and their  new sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is looking to add depth to a revitalized midfield featuring captain Marek Hamsik and new signing Mirko Valdifiori from Empoli.

The Corriere di Verona reported the Gialloblu rejected Napoli’s initial offer, although the San Paolo outfit are said to be evaluating submitting an increased offer.

Ionita made his Serie A debut last campaign and featured in 18 Serie A matches for Verona before his season was cut short when he suffered an injury on international duty in late March.

Napoli are also trying to sign another midfielder, with Udinese’s Allan heavily linked with a move to the Neapolitan outfit.
