Hull City’s Abel Hernandez has expressed his desire to make a return to Italy’s Serie A, should Torino come calling.

The Uruguayan moved to The Tigers last season, only to see his new club relegated on the final day of the season, after a frustrating first year in English football for himself which saw him net only four times in 24 appearances.

The 24-year-old told Tuttomercatoweb of his wish to play in Italy again, having previously made his name with Palermo. Recent speculation has linked Hernandez with a move to Torino as Giampiero Ventura looks to bolster his attacking options and build on last season’s successful campaign.

“If Torino wanted me, it would be a good move to go there,” said Hernandez.

“The way they have played in the last few years in a way which has allowed the strikers to score a lot and play very well.

Il Toro had an impressive run of form in the second half of last season which saw them finish 9th in Serie A, beating crosstown rivals Juventus in the process – something which had not gone unnoticed by Hernandez.

“They have had a great year, I saw some of their matches in Europe and then above all they won the derby, which I know is so important to the fans,” he said.

He continued: “Ventura is a coach I really admire as well, even from his days at Bari.

“My goal is to return to to Italy and to do it in the Granata shirt would be fantastic. I imagine it would be fun to play alongside Maxi Lopez and [Fabio] Quagliarella.”
