Inter’s summer spending spree on Geoffrey Kondogbia and Miranda has excited top scorer Mauro Icardi.

The Argentinian international netted 22 Serie A goals in 2014/15 to share the Capocannoniere crown with veteran Luca Toni, and believes that the Nerazzurri can push on after last campaign’s disappointing eighth-place finish.

The 22-year-old told Mediaset: “The club wants to make the squad competitive and we have shown that in the summer by signing important players.”

The €3o million acquisition of midfielder Kondogbia could be added to by Atletico Madrid man Mario Suarez in the coming weeks, with Icardi again set to lead the line for Roberto Mancini’s Biscione in the coming season.

“I always listen to Mancini and what he decides for me to do and how to change my game,” Icardi maintained.

“It is now four years since we won a trophy and in a way we have gotten used to that, but we want to do great things and have fun playing our football.”
