Goals from Rodrigo Palacio, Mauro Icardi, Hernanes and Samuele Longo, were enough to make light work of Serie A new boys Carpi, as Inter continued their winning form in pre-season with a 4-2 victory.

Carpi did show promise as goals from Kevin Lasagna and the positive Ryder Matos gave the Biancorossi some consolation.

Inter made a flying start to the match as new signing Geoffrey Kondogbia showed his class, playing a beautiful through ball to Rodrigo Palacio, who turned and smashed the ball in to give Inter the lead.

The Nerazzurri continued to dominate; yet chances were few and far between until, against the run of play, Carpi got back into the match through a dinked finish by Kevin Lasagna after Inter failed to clear a corner.

However, Inter made an immediate response when a minute later Danilo D’mbrosio’s cross was headed in at the back post by Mauro Icardi.

Ten minutes later Hernanes, who had impressed during the first period, whipped in a beautiful free-kick to make it 3-1.

The Nerazzuri made a raft of substitutes at half-time; however they didn’t seem to affect their dominance of Carpi, as Inter made a fast start to the second half when substitute Samuele Longo tapped in from fellow substitute, Davide Santon’s cross.

Inter were in total cruise control now as the Biscione’s younger players tried to impress coach Roberto Mancini. Saphir Taider almost profited from a flowing move, hitting his 25-yard shot just wide.

However, Carpi weren’t without total resistance as five minutes later, Ryder Matos almost pulled another goal back for the Biancorossi as his shot firmly rebounded off the post.

Carpi continued to gain in confidence and it showed when Ryder Matos headed in a delightful cross to make it 4-2.

Eventually fatigue set in as the Nerazzurri saw out the match without any further trouble.
