Inter winger Xherdan Shaqiri is back in the headlines today, but not because of an impending move or transfer but because he has had his photo taken with an alleged Muslim fundamentalist, arrested in 2014 for racial hatred and international terrorism.
The picture, as posted in La Gazzetta Dello Sport, shows the Nerazzurri player shaking hands with the Imam of Pristina, Shefqet Krasniqi, whilst Shaqiri was on holiday in Kosovo.
The former Bayern Munich man took to social media to explain he had no idea who the man was but that he thought ‘he was just a fan like any other’.
Krasniqi was arrested last year on charges of trying to recruit jihadists to send and fight in Syria.
