Inter manager Roberto Mancini has stressed the importance of getting his side into shape as the Stadio Meazza outfit prepare for a Serie A title tilt.

The Nerazzurri succumbed to defeat in their opening International Champions Cup against rivals AC Milan after a Philippe Mexes volley in the 62nd minute.

Speaking in the aftermath of the loss, the 50-year-old tactician is unfazed by the side’s lack of goals and believes facing a star-studded Real Madrid outfit would be perfect preparation for the upcoming season.

“It’s hard to play two games in quick succession, the most important thing is to avoid injuries,” he told reporters.

“Tomorrow we will start again as we attempt to play some good football. We have not scored, but it will happen soon.

“For now the most important thing is to get the team in shape. We will do our best to win, but now the results are not important, what counts is teamwork.

“It is nice to play games against a team like Real Madrid, which will help us to get ready for the season.

“We are very happy to be here and I thank all the fans in China for their affection.”
