Inter are closing in on long term target Ivan Perisic after having reached an agreement with Wolfsburg, a move that will trigger an exit for Xherdan Shaqiri, who is close to joining Schalke 04.
The Nerazzurri have long been linked with a deal for the 26-year-old and after failing to land their man in the last transfer window, they turned their attentions to Shaqiri, who underwhelmed and is now set to depart to make room for the Croatia international.
After Shaqiri admitted that he was open to a return to Germany with Schalke interested, Sky Sport Italia reported that the Nerazzurri were ready to allow the Swiss player to leave in order to create space for Perisic, after they had successfully negotiated with Die Wolfe.
Perisic has spent the last two seasons with the Lower Saxony-based side after a two year stint with Borussia Dortmund where he was part of the Bundesliga winning team of 2012.
