Mario BalotelliLiverpool misfit Mario Balotelli has reportedly sought a return to Inter, only to be turned down by his former club.

The Italian joined Liverpool in 2014 but endured a torrid debut season, finding the net only once in the league for the Reds, with Balotelli said to be increasingly unhappy in England and his agent Mino Raiola feels a change of environment would be beneficial for the wellbeing of the striker.

According to Calciomercato.com, Raiola held discussions with Inter about a possible return for his client to the Giuseppe Meazza on loan, but the Nerazzurri were reluctant to take Balotelli back.

Whilst not shutting the door completely on a move, Inter are wary of Balotelli’s potentially disruptive influence on the dressing room.

A further sticking point would be the 24-year-old’s wages, which Inter are cautious about paying as they also look towards spending money on defensive arrivals.

Liverpool would be willing to allow Balotelli to leave on loan but would demand that his €6m annual salary be paid in full, effectively ruling out a host of clubs including Napoli.
