New York City’s new signing Andrea Pirlo will become the highest paid player in the MLS.

The Italian international joined the American side after spending four years at Juventus and Pirlo is joining one of the biggest clubs in North America.

As revealed by ESPN, Andrea Pirlo will earn €7.5 million a year at New York City, making him the best paid player in the MLS.

New York City already have a star filled side as Pirlo will be joining Frank Lampard and David Villa who are already at the club.

Although only formed two years ago, New York City also have one of the biggest fan bases in America.

They ranked third in a recent study of the highest attendances in the MLS, averaging 29,000 at home games at the Yankee Stadium.
