Italian international defender Leonardo Bonucci is looking forward to the future after signing a new deal with Juventus.

The rugged centre-back joined the Old Lady in 2010 and has since gone on to make over 200 appearances in all competitions for the Italian champions, but Bonucci is only looking ahead to new challenges at the club after signing his new five year contract.

“A new cycle begins. I’ll use my experience to assist the new players. The team have maintained a strong core which we can build upon to achieve even more success.” Bonucci told reporters at a press conference announcing the deal.

“Juventus have a long-term project.

“We have a new generation of quality young players coming through the ranks.

“It will be difficult to win the Scudetto for the fifth year in a row, but with the right motivation we can do it.”

In 2014-15, the 28-year-old won the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia with Juve, before defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League final prevented them from winning the treble.
