Lazio have begun negotiations for Liverpool forward Fabio Borini.

Borini, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2012, is unwanted at Anfield and now looks close to a return to Serie A.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Liverpool are asking for €8.7 million for Borini. However, it is believed Claudio Lotito, Lazio’s president, would prefer to pay less.

Ideally, Lotito would like to acquire Borini on loan for €500,000 with an option to buy Borini at the end of the season for around €5.4 million.

Borini is thought to be the Biancocelesti’s prime forward target due to his flexibility and ability to play up front but also on the wing.

The Italian has not enjoyed his stay in England so far. Bar a reasonably successful loan spell at Sunderland, Borini has experienced limited first team action for Liverpool, making only 25 league appearances for the club.
