david astori italy haitiLazio have turned down the chance to sign Cagliari defender Davide Astori, after being shafted by the player last summer in favor of a move to fierce rivals Roma.

The 28-year-old Italian international spent the season on loan at the Giallorossi, but the club opted against making his transfer permanent after a series of unconvincing displays.

Last summer the Biancoceleste thought they had sewn up a deal to sign the defender, before the player decided at the last-minute to opt out of the deal and sign with their rivals.

According to Il Corriere della Sera, the relegated Sardinians had offered Astori to Lazio this week, but director Igli Tare turned down the approach, failing to forgive the player’s treachery last summer.

Astori made 30 appearances for Roma last summer, but returned to Cagliari this week after his loan deal expired.
