Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli’s Merseyside nightmare may be coming to an end after the club lowered their asking price for the player.

The former AC Milan forward has been the subject of a number of recent rumours linking him with a return to Serie A, with Sampdoria heavily linked to the Italy international.

SportMediaset have revealed Liverpool are asking for a fee of around €10 million for the former Inter man, meaning they would record a heavy loss on the €22 million paid to the Diavolo last summer.

It is thought that even at such a reduced fee, Balotelli may still be out of the price range of some of the clubs with whom he has been linked.

Balotelli’s second spell in England has been far less successful than the first. After he won the Premier League with Manchester City in 2012, he has failed to produce his best form for Brendan Rodgers and has scored just one goal for the Reds.
