Lyon have reportedly set their sights on Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in recent days and could be preparing an offer for him.

The 26-year-old, whose current contract with the Giallorossi is set to expire in June 2016, was able to secure a main role in Rudi Garcia’s squad during his debut campaign at the capital city club and it seems like his showings in Italy have caught the attention of the French side.

According to Le Parisien, Lyon would be interested in bringing the Frenchman over to Ligue 1 in the coming weeks, as Roma would likely be open to selling him if a considerable offer arrived, though the defender and his agents apparently have no plans to leave the Stadio Olimpico outfit any time soon.

Yanga-Mbiwa, who arrived at the Lupi from Newcastle United in September 2014, managed to score one goal and provide one assist in his 28 Serie A appearances last term, with his only goal of the season coming as an important game-winner against rivals Lazio on May 25.
