Inter coach Roberto Mancini has confirmed that the club have failed in their attempts to complete the summer signing of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

The Nerazzurri coach had previously declared his interest in signing the Ivorian, but would have now admitted that the central midfielder has decided to stay in England.

“We had sent out an enquiry but in the end the two clubs never spoke,” said Mancini in his press conference.

“I love him as a player and perhaps someone high up has convinced him to remain at Manchester City.

“I wish him the best of luck because he is very special for me.”

Mancini had previously signed Toure from Barcelona for a fee of around €30 million during his four-year spell in Manchester, and together won the FA cup as well as the Premier League title.
