Napoli icon Diego Maradona has confirmed his desire to combat those responsible for the corruption that has recently been uncovered within Fifa.
The Argentine has stated that he wants to clean up the world footballing body but has not openly declared his ambition to become the official president.
“I must combat the Mafia that still remains inside of Fifa,” said Maradona to local television channel America.
“I will fight against those who have robbed so much over a long period of time.
“I want to enter into Fifa and try to clean it up.”
He continued: “I will present myself to them,” said Maradona.
“There are lots of other players that have approached me and I will combat the thieves in the white gloves.”
Former Serie A stars Zico and Michel Platini have already announced their intentions to run for the presidency.
