Newly appointed AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has expressed his pride at being hired by the Rossoneri during his first press conference.

The 46-year-old has spoken for the first time since replacing Filippo Inzaghi at Milan and has reiterated his desire to take the club back to the peak of Italian football.

“It gives me great satisfaction to be here today,” said Mihajlovic in his presentation press conference.

“In football I have experienced many firsts but this is particularly special. I understand from being in Italy for many years that Milan is a world-class club.

“I want to thank the president Silvio Berlusconi and vice-president Adriano Galliani for choosing me, it has given me a great source of pride.

“I will do everything to repay their faith in me and also to obtain the trust of the Milan fans.”

Mihajlovic has confirmed his lofty ambitions for the Milanese outfit, as well as his desire to address the recent issue of the decline in attendances at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“Milan’s objective is to win every game and I am sure this will lead to a high league position.

“As for the fans, we will do everything to get them back to the stadium. I am not a suck-up but I want to convince them of my professionalism and my ability.

“We must make the stadium a fortress once again and make other teams fear us. To succeed we will need to work and regain our sense of optimism but I am convinced that if we are all united then this year we can achieve success.”

The former Sampdoria tactician has also praised the Rossoneri’s recent business in the transfer window, following the successful signings of Carlos Bacca from Sevilla, Luiz Adriano from Shakhtar Donetsk as well as Italian international Andrea Bertolacci.

“The club hierarchy are moving well in the transfer market and they have already signed three great players,” said Mihajlovic.

“In Italy there is no more ambitious project than ours.”
