AC Milan are eyeing highly rated Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte to improve their faltering defence.
The 21-year-old central defender has been identified as the solution to the Rossoneri’s poor defensive record last season and many at the club feel that his arrival would be a great addition to the current squad.
The defender has put in a number of notable performances causing some of Europe’s biggest clubs to take notice. Laporte recently signed a new deal with Bilbao, keeping him contracted to the club until 2019. The contract has a release clause of €50 million.
According to Milannews.it, Sinisa Mihajlovic wants a classy ball playing defender to be added to his ranks after missing out on Mats Hummels and the Bilbao man fits the criteria. The France Under-21 international has made 83 appearances for Bilbao since his La Liga debut in December 2012.
Milan finished a forgettable season in 10th position in Serie A and missed out on European qualification for next season, a factor which might be a cause of concern in securing the services of the young defender as it is his desire to play Champions League football.
