Napoli are facing a fresh start under new head coach Maurizio Sarri. The Partenopei have been busy this summer having already acquired Mirko Valdifiori from Empoli and are looking for further reinforcement, with Sala able to play in defence or midfield.

According to newspaper Il Mattino, Napoli have already agreed a €3 million fee for the ex-Chelsea man Sala. However, the Azzurri’s first choice for the right-back position is Sime Vrsaljko of Sassuolo.

Napoli are having difficulties with negotiating a fee for the Croatian and if no reasonable deal can be found the Partenopei will move for Sala.

Sala, who was born in the city of Bergamo in Lombardy, started his professional career at Chelsea after being picked up from Atalanta.

However, the Italian failed to make an appearance for the Blues and moved to German side Hamburg in 2011. The 23 year old was bought by Hellas Verona in 2013.
