luigi Sepe empoliNapoli goalkeeper Luigi Sepe has officially joined Serie A rivals Fiorentina on a one-year loan deal.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper spent last season on loan at Empoli but despite impressing his parent club, the return of Pepe Reina to Naples will mean first team opportunities with the Partenopei would be  significantly diminished.

An official announcement from La Viola confirmed the goalkeeper’s arrival in Florence and he will join the rest of the Fiorentina squad at their pre-season retreat in Moena.

During an interview with Radio Bruno, Sepe stated that he would consider remaining with the Gilgliati once the loan expires: “For now, it’s a loan, but we’ll see how the situation develops later on, as I’d be happy to stay at Fiorentina for more than a year.”

Sepe made 32 appearances for Empoli last season as the newly-promoted Tuscan outfit comfortably survived the relegation battle to ensure first tier football.

Sepe will have to compete with Romanian international, Ciprian Tatarusanu, for the position between the sticks at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
