Gonzalo Higuain NapoliNapoli are ready to lower their asking price for star-striker Gonzalo Higuain, as suitors have been put off by the Argentine’s recent performances.

The Argentina international has attracted interest from several clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and Roma, having scored 29 goals for the Azzurri last season.

The Gazzetta Dello Sport are reporting that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis will lower the 27-year-old forward’s €94 million price-tag, in the wake of numerous high profile failings in crucial matches.

The Partenopei missed out on a Champions League place following a final-day defeat to Lazio at the Stadio San Paolo, in which Higuain missed a penalty that would have given the Neapolitans a 3-2 lead.

His miss from the spot in last weekend’s Copa America final penalty shootout defeat to Chile, in addition to costly misses in last season’s Europa League semi-final and the 2014 World Cup final, have contributed to a reputation for failing to deliver on big occasions.

Despite this, Higuain’s formidable scoring record of 53 goals in only two seasons with Napoli is likely to still attract plenty of interest.
