Tonelli - Fiorentina v EmpoliNapoli have turned their attentions towards signing Empoli defender Lorenzo Tonelli after their move for Cagliari’s Davide Astori appears to have collapsed.

The Partenopei had reached an agreement with the Isolani to sign the Italian international only for the deal to brake down after a disagreement over image rights.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Napoli are now set to make a move for Tonelli with Astori unwilling to accept a transfer to the Stadio San Paolo.

Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi has set a €6 million asking price for the 25-year-old, who has also been linked with a switch to Palermo this summer.

New coach Maurizio Sarri is believed to have requested Tonelli following their time together at the Tuscan club.

Tonelli is thought to be eager at reuniting with Sarri at Napoli after his agent Marco Sommella told Radio Marte on July 16 that his client ‘would run to Naples’.
