AC Milan forward Carlos Bacca has revealed his disappointment to miss out on playing Champions League football next season, but believes the Rossoneri project the right fit for him.

The 28-year-old Colombia international joined the Rossoneri on a five-year contract from the Europa League winners Sevilla.

Bacca scored twice during a 3-2 victory over Dnipro in this season’s Europa League final in Warsaw.

Speaking to El Tiempo, the Colombian newspaper, Bacca explained the theory behind his choice.

“I’m so sorry I will not play in the Champions League next season, but Milan are building a great project and I want to be part of it.

“I am very happy to become part of a great team like Milan. It is one of the best clubs in the world, even if things at the moment are not going so well. I cannot wait to wear the Rossoneri shirt and to do my best.”

AC Milan have confirmed Bacca will wear the No.70 shirt, the same number the attacker wore during his previous spell at Club Brugge in Belgium.
