Micah Richards felt he wasn’t able to get integrated at Fiorentina, after his loan spell in Florence, as he reflected upon his move to Aston Villa.

The Englishman is ready for a new challenge after completing a free transfer to Aston Villa from Manchester City, after spending last season on loan at Fiorentina, and feels a full pre-season will give him the opportunity to show his full value.

“I’m ready to start again,” Richards told Aston Villa’s official website.

“I feel good and I want to show everyone what I’m worth.  I am happy to be here and I hope to get my fitness up quickly.”

The 27-year-old only made 10 appearances in Serie A last season and the Viola decided not to make the deal permanent, which gave the chance for Richards to move back to England.

“I will now have the opportunity to know the rest of the group during pre-season,” Richards said.

“I didn’t have the opportunity to do that at Fiorentina as I only moved on the last day of the transfer window in August; so I had to try and adapt and prove myself really quickly.”
