Mario Gomez FiorentinaBesiktas striker Mario Gomez is targeting trophies in Turkey and Europe, after making the move from Fiorentina.

The Germany international endured two inconsistent seasons with the Viola before moving on, with injuries restricting his ability to prove his worth, but is targeting a fruitful experience with his new club in Turkey.

“I am happy to be here,” the 30-year-old told the club on Twitter.

“I want to win many trophies in Turkey and Europe with Besiktas.”

Gomez sealed his move to Besiktas on Thursday, on an initial one-year loan agreement, although the Istanbul side have an option to make the transaction permanent.

The former Bayern Munich star has just seven Serie A goals to his name from the 29 appearances he has been able to make, considerably less than the 28 he scored in 2010-11 to become the Bundesliga top goalscorer.
